Animal to Human/Human to Animal Communication

Chris Swenson

Ever heard of throat-singing? Known as "Khoomii" in Mongolia (and "Khoomei" in Tuva). It is an amazing traditional Central Asian singing technique, which allows one person to produce polyphonic music without any instruments! The Throat-Singing Society is for people who are interested in this kind of music.

We can speculate that throat-singing was developed into arts by herdsmen, who imitated sounds of yaks (Bos grunniens). Originally they used imitation to control their herds.

Chris Swenson has gone into other direction - he is using the art in order to grasp animality. As a dancer he utilises his body to realise animal mobility and movements. At the same time as a throat-singer he goes deeper into the mind of animality.
