The real world of dolphins and porpoises

Spinner dolphins, found only in warm temperate to tropical waters, are renowned for their high, spinning leaps. These spinners, left, were photographed in Hawaii, where they have been studied both in captivity and in the wild. The bottlenose dolphin, above, investigates coral reefs off the Bahamas, a common living-and hiding-spot for many fish species. The inquisitive nature of the bottlenose dolphin and its use of different feeding techniques has led it to colonize habitats all over the world.
