MARINELAND, NIAGARA FALL, CANADA MUST BE CLOSED DOWN.
GADFLIES need to move into action urgently on the Marineland issue. Those of us who
were there can make use of this long list of relevant people and organisations to direct
protest to.
GADFLIES who were not at Niagara need to help in this campaign. In brief, these are
the issues:
ORCAS are being kept in tiny pools in shocking conditions. A fully grown male orca is
in a pool which measures approximately 24 feet in diameter. He has bad sunburn, his
dorsal fin is completely curled over and he is extremely lethargic and appears very ill.
Two female orcas and a young calf are kept in a slightly larger pool. All have curled
dorsal fins, they appear lethargic and hungry.
In a warehouse behind the show area, two young orcas have been kept in a tiny pool
without sunlight or fresh air for two years. This is where
JUNIOR and DUKE died horrible deaths - shut away for years in this dreadful
place.
CANADA has no legislation to protect cetaceans in captivity.
CANADA has no
Freedom of Information legislation.
CANADA needs to follow Australia's example and
ban the keeping of dolphins and whales in captivity.
MARINELAND orcas and dolphins must be released and rehabilitated.
GADFLIES must apply as much continuing pressure as they can by protesting to the CANADIAN
EMBASSY in their country and directly to the addresses listed below.
